Slide 1- This is my Pecha kucha on my project which is based
around news within British popular culture and my product will be a 16 page
magazine and social media pages with adverts.
Slide 2- When thinking about the topic and products, I
wanted to create something which I know about because of how much news is
spread within the media, I thought about how we here more American culture
within the media than British culture.
Slide 3- This fits the brief as it is a clearly defined
scenario which is relevant to news stories which are current now. I figured
that if I wrote about celebrities then people would be more interested in the
news especially as their news stories always end up being the hot topics to
talk about.
Slide 4-I wanted to make an entertainment magazine feature
different British people with different career backgrounds from chefs and bakers
to actors/actress to singers I want to explore all different types so I can
have the magazine and the social pages more inclusive.
Slide 5- I believe that Bauer Publishing and Distribution
Company would distribute this product because as they would firstly distribute
nationwide all of the UK they specialise in entertainment magazines.
Slide 6- I would also consider Warners group Publications as
a distribution company as they deliver to reputable companies such as W H Smith
stores, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and numerous other regional chains.
Slide 7- My demographic is a range of all ages who are
interested in the entertainment industry and want to be updated with news that
they are interested in they can be notified through the social media pages
through their phones, tablets or laptops.
Slide 8- I will be researching different storylines which
have happened in the past with different celebrities and making my own take on
how to present these stories. I will be including photoshoots, pull out posters
and more. I would be making a flat plan of the magazine to help me with the
structure.
Slide 9- I will be collecting feedback consistently from
people about different design features included and analysing feedback to take
into account for the next step into the project, this would be considered as my
primary research
Slide 10- Problems I face within this project are trying to
get reliable information about different stories and having to piece them
together to not copy stories from online. Another problem is time management
and having to make sure I stick to the timetable strictly.
Slide 11- One more problem is creating relevant images which
are based around the celebrities. I know I would have to take my own pictures
but I have to get the right people at the right time to take the images needed.
Slide 12- I’ll be taking
my own photography or previously taken images to vary my resources and showing
that I can use previous skills of editing to help me make and design this
magazine.
Slide 13- By making a reflective log I will be reflecting on
my progress at the end of every task that I need to complete to make the
project successful. This would help me make any improvement on work or give me
a guidance or what to do next.
Slide 14- I can evaluate my work by comparing my finished
product to a very popular entertainments magazine for example, OK! Magazine. I
would evaluate how the conventions of my magazine meet their magazine and see
if it would be well known and successful as OK! Magazine.
Slide 15- Making social media pages would help my magazine
become more accessible to people who struggle to read, they would be able to
make the font bigger or have a voice over so they could listen to what is
happening.
Slide 16- Adverts are important within a magazine because
they help the company gain more profit through advertising. Making my own
adverts would help compare my magazine to the codes and conventions of a
magazine. Also, can be used to promote the magazine on bus shelters and tube
stations.
Slide 17- I will be using software programmes like adobe
InDesign, Photoshop and possibly Illustrator to complete this project. I have
had experience in using these programmes and I know I can make a successful
project with these software.
Slide 18- I will be evaluating how the promotional mix and
marketing mix may help this magazine be a successful by analysing the
techniques of both the mixes involved.
Slide 19- By making this
magazine, I would want to make an ideal, successful and reliable entertainment
magazine, adverts and social media accounts. It is important for readers to be
interested in reliable information and not for them to be misled in a magazine
they can rely on.
