This week I took a trip to the British Museum to generate some ideas for the Final Major Project. I was taking a look at different artifacts from different years from around the world such as the Rosetta Stone.  After I have started working on making a proposal on the FMP deciding that I am going to be making a magazine, social media pages and adverts about British celebrity entertainment. The one thing I would say is that I would have rather gone to somewhere which had more relevant things thing to the times now etc 2018,2019 than seeing history as I have never had an interest in history.  To start this project I was asking people what I could to for the final major project. Out of all the outcomes I finally decided to choose British celebrity gossip.

04/03/19-08/03/19

This week I have finished my proposal and timetable and I am now starting on my Pecha Kucha to present and hopefully get some feedback about my idea, to see what I can improve on and what more to add. What I found difficult was finding things to write about in my Pecha Kucha. As the subject isn't very specific within itself it's hard to explain my idea and product because it is so widespread across so many genres

11/03/19-14/03/19

This week I have completed the Pecha Kucha and I am prepared to present to the class. I thought the Pecha Kucha was well explained and I want to know the feedback on how to improve my idea.  I have started analysing the codes and conventions of a magazine front cover as the start of my research and I will explain how I can apply to those codes and conventions to my own work.

18/03/19-21/03/19

This week I have presented the PechaKucha and I have received feedback to analyse on my blog. Overall, I thought my presentation went very well and I thought the feedback was very informative. I also started my research on magazines and I started analysing the front over of entertainment magazine to understand the codes and conventions of a magazine and if I would like to differ from that. I saw what conventional front covers have and they all follow the same codes and conventions.

25/03/19-28/03/19

This week I have completed the analyse of the codes and conventions of a front cover and contents page. I thought that analysing these were very helpful into my decision of how I should design my magazine. Figuring out whether I should follow the codes and conventions or whether I should just avoid them completely. I found out that most magazine I was researching about follow the codes and conventions to some extent. Some try to differ and some just follow the rules. I want mine to differ because I want a unique presence when my target audience is looking at the magazine and social pages, as well as having a unique look when advertising for magazine and all the stories and photo shoots.

01/04/19-04/04/19

This week I finish up my analysis of the front cover and contents page. Making sure it is easy for the person to read and doing the same with the proposal. I have been starting doing historical research about the history of publishing within the UK. Finding out about how it started out and how it transferred from America and the problems it faced during World War I and II. Finding out about the Daily Telegraph and how they were first to be when they were starting out in 1860s. I was also researching about Bauer music company and how they became a publishing and distribution brand starting in Hamberg, Germany. I want to know how companies and publishing, in general, got to how it is in the modern era now so I can reflect that into my work when mentioning about publishing and distribution

22/04/19-25/04/19

This week I have been researching the historical factors of publishing and how they have affected social media and the celebrity culture. Analysing what the definition is and getting quotes from people. I have also started creating a flat plan for the magazine and I am now started to place where the text and images are going to be.

29/04/19-03/05/19

This week I have started thinking about the design and colour scheme of the magazine. I have made the document on where I am making the magazine and how it is going to look like colour scheme wise. I have analyse 3 colour group which I think work well together and I have asked people around about their thoughts on how the colour look together and which colour they would think to look good on the magazine. I have also started designing the masthead of the magazine using dafont.com and choosing which names and typography I would like to see on the magazine cover and through the issue. One problem I had was comparing the colours on the InDesign file when there were no pictures to see if they contrast with background colours or other images. What I need to do is take some images by the end of next week.

06/05/19-10/05/19

This week I have been constructing the magazine and making the front cover and first advert. I figured out that it would be best to make the magazine as an 8-page magazine due to the fact that I don't have enough time to make a 16-page magazine and I definitely would be making this visible in my evaluation.

13/05/19-17/05/19

This week I have been making a double page spread and one more advert to make. I have been designing and figuring out what would look good on the magazine. I had trouble trying to make the images that I had taken work on the page and I wasn't sure what if the colour scheme would work the way I wanted it to. If I was to do this again, then I would change the images in the way that the colours would work with the magazine and I would have more thought into the colours contrasting.

20/05/19-24/05/19

This week I have completed the rest of the magazine and started writing the evaluation of the project writing about what I need to improve and what I can do next time.
